The island of Rab is a place of rich cultural history and natural beauty that has been ranked among the most visited tourist destinations on the Adriatic for years, and was recently listed on the list of the most beautiful islands in the world by Showbizz Daily magazine, taking a high third place !
The ideal conditions of the pleasant Mediterranean climate not only enable a swimming season on the island, but are largely responsible for the wealth of flora and fauna in this area. This is precisely why activities such as fishing, agriculture, and animal husbandry have been developed throughout history, and this long tradition is still preserved among the inhabitants of Rab. All this enabled numerous visitors to the island to enjoy the gastronomic specialties of these regions and to try indigenous products from domestic cultivation!
The west coast of the island of Rab is considered by many to be the most attractive part of the island and is especially interesting among boating tourists. The coast includes the Kalifront peninsula, which with its protected Dundo forest also forms the largest holm oak forest community in Europe. Also, the coast consists of the two largest bays on Rab, Kamporska and Draška bays, the Gonar reef that is located between them and several uninhabited islets such as Šailovac and Maman, which contain numerous intimate beaches untouched by human influence and with beautiful marine flora and fauna, ideal for lovers of all activities at sea.
On the other side of the coast, tucked deep into the Kalifront peninsula, there are probably the most attractive bays on the island of Rab that are worth visiting: Ćifnata and Gožinka bays.

The traditional Rab dessert is prepared for three days and was served for the first time in 1177 during the visit of Pope Alexander III.
Sandy natural beaches
The island of Rab is a popular bathing destination on the Adriatic Sea and has over 30 natural sandy beaches, the most famous of which is Paradise Beach in Lopar.

The name "Arba" - wooded
The richness of the forests on the island of Rab can be witnessed by its very name – namely, the people of Liburni, as the first inhabitants of the island, called it “Arba”, which would mean dark, green, wooded.

One of the largest naval battles in history took place in 1571, and Nikola Spalatin from Rabl played a key role by reporting the position of the Turkish fleet in the port of Lepant, which helped the galleys of the Christian Holy League to defeat a numerically superior opponent and prevent further Turkish penetration towards the west of Europe.
Rab fair
The most famous event on the island of Rab is also the oldest and largest medieval festival. It is held every year at the end of July, more precisely from July 25 to 27, and is the most visited event in the summer tourist season.
During this festival, the town of Rab returns to its medieval past, and numerous visitors from all over the world can get to know the way of life on the island at that time, as well as try traditional Rab gastronomic delicacies.
The festive end of the festival is marked by a magnificent fireworks display from the city harbor at exactly midnight – don’t miss it!

St. Christopher
According to legend, Saint Christopher – the patron saint of Rab – saved the island from the Normans on May 9, 1075, and that day is celebrated as Rab City Day. The last day of the Rab fair, July 27, is also the day of the feast of Rab’s patron Saint Christopher.

Knight tournament
On the last day of the festival, knight games are held organized by the Association of Rab Archers, which was founded in 1995, and in this way the old tradition has returned – namely, the first knight games on Rab were held way back in 1364!
